Academics:

Phonics: We are reviewing a lot of skills. This week we will be focus on syllable types. Closed syllables have one short vowel closed in by a consonant. An open syllable ends with a vowel that is long. Vowel team is a syllable that holds a vowel team.

Comprehension: We are continuing to look at non fiction stories and look at cause and effect. Cause is why something happened, while effect is what happened. I wore a raincoat because it was raining. The effect is me wearing a raincoat and the cause is because it is raining.

Writing: We are wrapping up our opinion paper about the best planet and will move to our next opinion piece. The students are really excited to share their paper with you!

Math: We are working on doubling facts and strategies. Students are working on showing their thinking during word problems.
