- January 20th: Awards Ceremony 9:45am
- January 25th: Literacy Night 5pm
- February 3rd: Early Release @ 1:30pm
- February 16th-20 NO SCHOOL
Academics:
Phonics: We will be exploring the long u spellings next week. These are ew and ue. Examples of these would be few and clue.
Comprehension: We will learn about character's feelings. This is a fun topic to talk about because students identify the character's feelings and often make a connection to the character's actions and thoughts.
Writing: We are working together to write a creative story with a focus on the problem. Problems often drive the characters into actions. I look forward to seeing how student's writing develop.
Math: We are going to start looking at place value and comparing numbers. To work on this students have been taught how to draw or represent numbers. The number 23 would have 2 sticks and 3 single cubes. The sticks represent the tens place, while the single cubes represent the ones place.
Social Studies: Students will learn about different land and water features. We will look at some familiar features like mountains but also discuss ones we may not be as familiar with like peninsulas.
