Parent/Teacher conferences will be held in Feb. as well. More info to come. If you need an interpreter please email me so I can contact district to set that up!
Academics:
Moral Focus: Next week will wrap up our virtue of perseverance! We will be watching a short clip of Mulan and also listening to a fun song about perseverance.
Phonics: We will be continuing to explore multisyllabic words with both open and closed syllables. We will be reviewing this skill for a while to be sure we are efficient.
Writing: Students will be learning about common and proper nouns. A noun is a person, place, thing, or animal (boy, store, pencil, dog). A proper noun is the name of a person, place, thing, or animal (Mr. Collins, Target, etc). Proper nouns are capitalized in sentences, while common nouns are not.
Comprehension: Our class is starting our next unit of study. We are back to reading fiction stories. Next week students will focus on identifying characters and the character's feeling throughout the story. At home you can practice this by asking a lot of "how and why" questions. "Why did they do that? or How do they feel? How do you know? Did their feelings change?"
Math: We will be starting Unit 4! Students will explore number lines and see how they could be a benefit to adding and subtraction.
Social Studies: With me being out last week, we are gonna stretch Landforms another week and then hop over to Science.
