 Hello wonderful families!

Boy, we got a lot accomplished this week!

If you have any disinfectant wipes that you could donate to the class, we would greatly appreciate it! Wipes help keep our classroom clean and safe!

Phonics: We are going to review our vowel teams next week. There are so many so we are going to dive in them the next few weeks!

Reading: Next week we will be focusing on connecting information across the text. This helps with student's recall. Our class did amazing this week with cause and effect!

Math: We are going to wrap up our geometry unit next week. The class has been having fun cutting shapes into halves and fourths! They are so excited to be learning fractions! Hopefully they will keep that enthusiasm about fraction as they get older!

Social Studies: We are going to look at different types of communities like rural, suburban, and urban. We are going to tie in our weather and climate conversation by looking at why certain towns do certain things. For example: Why do some cities have snow plows while others have hurricane warning systems?

We are now entering 4th quarter of first grade! Can you believe it? In the fourth quarter I usually bump up my expectations for behavior. Students need to be preparing for second grade. With that being said, please review appropriate behavior for school. This is also the time of year that students get very comfortable with each other. Remind students we still need to be respectful to one another.

MASKS are still expected to be worn. I have had to remind students to keep their masks on throughout the day. The only times it should be off is when we are eating and drinking or safely distanced!
