Blast: We will be working on digraph ck and review our previous digraphs as well. I am trying to get access to our digraph videos that our curriculum uses but they have not gotten back to me yet.
Comprehension: Next week we will be looking at who the narrator is in certain stories. Sometimes this can be hard to identify so I will give them lots of support in this area.
- Reading Homework is coming home today. It is over problem and solution again. This is to make sure they truly understand the concept. If you are reading chapter books you can do a box per chapter.
- There are a lot of awesome online resources if you need more books. Youtube, epic, Readworks.org, Storyline Online, etc.
- I will be sending home November Book-it forms. Again this is optional. You can fill it out on top of your regular reading logs and turn it in on the last day of the month for a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut. I will hopefully send out the code for my October participants today but I am waiting for them to mail them to me! Please be patient!
Math: We are still working on addition and subtraction strategies! First grade is all about strategies! Something that could help your student would be to practice subtizing some more!
- Go to Youtube and search for subitizing with Jack Hartmann. He has a lot of goofy videos that focus on subtizing.
- Math Homework is coming home tonight and will be due back Monday. This one is super simple so everyone should be able to turn it in! ( pages 39 and 40)
- Tuesday (pages 41 and 42) and will be due back Wednesday.
- Next Friday (pages 43 and 44) will be due the following Monday.
Social studies: Due to snow related delays/early releases we will be finishing up our Civics unit next week and move to our Science unit on sound and light!
Lots of holidays are about to start! I will send more info about our upcoming events at a later date. I like to mention as many holidays as I can but often are not aware of the ones my students celebrate. If you would like to let me know of any celebrations or upcoming holidays that your family take part in that would be so helpful.
