Hello!

Weather: Please be sure to send jackets or coats if the weather is cold. Always assume we will have outdoor recess just to be safe. Please LABEL everything!!!!!!

Reading/Comprehension: We will be looking at fairy tales and what the problem of the story is. This is great for readers to identify so they can better understand what they are reading. The problem isn't always super clear in stories so please help your student identify them if they need help.

  • Homework is coming home today and will be due on Thursday (Oct. 17th). It is a short week so please be mindful of that when doing homework.

Phonics: We will be looking at different words with both long and short e. It would be great to review these sounds at home. Short E video and Long E video

  • Please be review the Rapid word charts that are coming home. You can unattach it from the homework if you would like to keep it at home.

This assessment is just to gauge what your student's strength and weakness are in math.
  • Math homework will be coming home today and will be due on Monday, Oct. 14th (pages 27 and 28).
  • There will be no math homework next week due to the assessment. Enjoy!

Oct 4th

Hello!

Reading/Comprehension: We have been working on finding evidence to prove our guesses on what the setting is in our books. We can find evidence in words or pictures. It would be helpful for students if you ask questions about the story's setting at home and then have them find evidence in words or pictures about where the story takes place!

  • Don't forget to do your reading logs! They are due every Friday with your student's name on it!!!

Phonics: We will be working on our next digraph (two letters that make one sound). Th makes two sounds, voiced and unvoiced. Unvoiced TH is used in the word thumb. Your voice box is not being used in the TH part of the word thumb. The voiced TH is used in the word there. If you hold your hand to your throat on /th/  you will feel your voice box vibrating.

Math: We are cruising into next week. We have been looking a numerous fact families. We are discovering what makes a fact family while exploring different was to use addition.

  • Homework today! Due back on Monday. (Pages 23 and 24)
  • Homework is coming home Tuesday and will be due Wednesday (pages 25 and 26)
  • Homework is coming home next Friday and will be due the following Monday (pages 27 and 28).
  • If your student is struggling to complete the challenge part of the homework you may skip it! I do not want to cause meltdowns!
Science: We have been observing different objects and discussing their purpose. We have also been wondering about their designs. How and why was it made. We will be working on this engineering unit for a few weeks. This has been a fun and insightful unit so far!
