Read aloud/Comprehension:
We will be looking at narratives and making predictions about those stories.
- A prediction is a good guess about what is happening in the story. It is ok if we are wrong. 😏
- Making predictions helps readers to know what might come next in the story.
Phonics:
We will be working on short vowel sounds and consonants again. It is important that we get a solid foundation before moving on.
Writing: Still working on handwriting! We will also be looking at how to create a simple sentence. There are four parts. You can start reviewing at home! C.O.P.S.
- C stands for capital letter at the beginning of each sentence!!!
- O stands for organization. This is letter formation and finger spaces!
- P stands for punctuation. We will discuss which is appropriate for different types of sentences/
- S is for spelling. As long as the sounds are there its ok! Kat and Cat are both acceptable because they have the correct sounds
We will be working on our Friday Journals today. This is something new I am doing this year. Students will write about what happened this week in school on one page and it would be great if you could respond to them on the back side of that page. The journal will come home tonight and will need to be returned on Monday with a family member's response. This will promote good communication between you and your child.
Math:
We will be exploring fact families up to ten. These are two numbers added together to equal 10. Example 8+2=10 and 2+8=10. Homework will come home on Tuesday and Friday. Math homework is due back the next school day!
Social studies: We will be focusing on the importance of leaders in and around our school. This great for community building in our classroom.
HOMEWORK! In purple folders is our READING HOMEWORK. I am sending it home today but it will be due next FRIDAY. It has the dates and instructions on it. You may read or your student may read but your student must fill out the paper piece. Be helpful but do not do it for them.
Below I have attached two books from Youtube. If you would like to use them for homework you can! I have no idea what kind of ads might pop up so I encourage parent consent!
