Hello families!
I hope that social distancing is going well! My life has become very boring without your kids!
Home learning:
If you have not already please get logged into our Google classroom. There isn't much up yet but there are things scheduled to be posted tomorrow. SEE PREVIOUS POST FOR DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GET ON AND FOR EXPECTATIONS! *some expectations will change... thanks to the never-ending updates and changes! I will communicate these as best I can!
All assignments are not required but HIGHLY recommended! Some do have a due date (a week after assigned) and some do not. For scheduling reasons I will be posting things on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:10 am. This will give you two days before the next wave of assignments. There will be a lot of videos, parent consent is recommended! You can have your student do all assignments at once or spread them out. Whatever works for your family!
Later this week I will be sending a Zoom link to your email (the parent's email). This is a video meeting platform. Again this is not required but recommended. IF you can make it awesome! I know your student will be excited to see everyone! I will send a link, for ease, click on the link on the device your student will use for the meeting. I will go over expectations with the students once we are on.
Don't forget to set up schedules at the start of your day! Make it simple and get your student involved. Ask how long they think they would need to complete something or what they think should happen right after lunch, or give them option 1 or option 2 to choose from.
You can even ask your student to create expectations for each event.
Example: Lunch
Parent: How will I know you are done?
Student: (possibly 😉) I will put my dishes away and trash is in the garbage can.
Don't want to work?
Set up a clear system for rewards for work! If you do this or complete this, you get a star. After ten stars you get a small prize. Choice of dinner, pick a movie, etc. This is only one option but choose what would work for your student and family!
Plan some fun things! Pj day, backwards day, ugly sweater day, etc!
Don't forget to look back at my emails to see a list of extra things you can do to occupy time!
Happy Learning!

Can you believe next week is quarter 4?! Wow, this year has flown by! With the end of the year approaching I have assisted your students in making a Room 7 constitution. Students submitted their ideas and thoughts about how to help themselves become prepared for 2nd grade. I will enforce their new expectations starting Monday. I was really impressed by their ideas!
Phonics: We learned a lot this week so I want to take next week to review and practice our new skills. We learned about vowel team ee, ea, ai, and ay. Please keep reading, I know Spring Break is near and weather is getting nice but we need to finish the year strong!
Comprehension: We will be looking at making connections though out text. This will help readers connect details from the beginning of a story to the end. This will help them get a well rounded view on the text. Reading homework will be due next Friday!
Math: We wrapped up our geometry unit and testing this week and will be moving on to word problems. Our class is has a wide range of strategies for word problems already. This unit will help us practice and update those skills. Math homework will becoming home on Tuesday (87-88) and next Friday (89-90).
Social Studies: We are still working on our American Symbols! They are loving it!
Field Trip: March 16th
I am still missing a few permission slips! If you plan on not sending your student please let me know! Also if you need an extra copy of the slip please email me!
Students will need a sack lunch that day which means EVERYTHING can be thrown away!
